Raeesa Lalani is an arts professional, leader, and artist, flourishing as the Executive & Artistic Director of the Prismatic Arts Festival.
With a deep passion for the arts from a young age, Raeesa’s journey has been shaped by an unwavering dedication to fostering artistic expression and empowering creators. Growing up immersed in music, dance, and the fine arts, she developed a profound appreciation for the transformative power of creativity.
Raeesa has a Bachelor of Arts in English from Dalhousie University and a Master’s Degree in Journalism from the University of King’s College.
A dynamic and innovative leader, Raeesa develops initiatives that connect artists with the broader creative community. Her curatorial vision and strategic leadership reflect her belief in the arts’ power to transform society, bridge cultures, and create lasting change. Through her tireless efforts, she leaves an indelible mark on the arts community in Nova Scotia and beyond.
Recognized for her impact in the arts sector, Raeesa is a sought-after speaker and advisor, using her voice to advocate for equitable representation in the industry. Her dedication to fostering artistic excellence, coupled with her expertise in media, content creation, and strategic communications, continues to shape and inspire the next generation of artists.
She currently serves as President of the Atlantic Presenters Association, advocating for the growth and sustainability of the performing arts sector. As a Board Member as well as Chair of the IDEA Committee with the Downtown Halifax Business Commission, she champions initiatives that promote inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility. Additionally, her role on the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council allows her to help shape policies that support artists and cultural development across the province.
Raeesa acknowledges that she was born and raised on the traditional land of Stoney Nakoda in Wichispa Oyade and now resides in K’jipuktuk, Mi’kma’ki.
