Dee Hernandez is a Cuban-born singer, songwriter, and performer whose music radiates with the heartbeat of her heritage and the soul of contemporary artistry. Now based in Atlantic Canada, Dee blends the richness of Afro-Cuban and Latin traditions with the vibrant textures of jazz, soul, funk, and pop, crafting a sound that is distinctly her own.

Her journey from the rural heart of Havana to Canada’s stages is a story of courage, resilience, and boundless creativity. Defecting at just 16 years old during an East Coast tour, Dee found not just a new home, but a new voice — one that bridges cultures and generations.  Her music is a fluid fusion of past and present, where Afro-Cuban rhythms meet smoky Jazz lounges, and vintage soul grooves dance with modern pop sensibilities. Dee’s sound is a vibrant mosaic, rich in flavour and emotion, bringing the timeless spirit of Cuban music into dialogue with contemporary styles from around the world.

Fresh off her 2026 East Coast Music Award nomination for Global Release and R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, Dee was also recently highlighted in Exclaim! magazine as part of the rise of Latin and global sounds in the Canadian music landscape. Dee has lit up stages across the country, captivating audiences at Canadian Music Week, Contact East, and many other festivals.

In September 2026, Dee will release her debut LP, a project that comes full circle, reflecting her evolution from the moment she arrived in Canada to the artist she is today. The album traces her journey of resilience, love, and cultural preservation through her distinct fusion of Cuban roots and modern soul. With every note she sings, Dee Hernandez invites listeners on a journey of connection, spirit, and undeniable groove.
