PRISMATIC 2021 FESTIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT
Hey you! Yeah, you! We’ve planned a sensational festival and we want you to come hang out with us!
Prismatic Arts Festival is a national multidisciplinary arts festival that solely features Indigenous artists and artists of colour. Prismatic is excited to bring boundary-pushing new works in music, theatre, dance, visual arts, and spoken word performances.
Live performances will take place at venues all over Downtown Kjipuktuk, Halifax, including Neptune Theatre where Prismatic is thrilled to be the new Company in Residence!
Prismatic is looking forward to spending time with you in person at these exciting performances:
- JUNO Award winners, Digging Roots, will play a FREE show on the Grand Oasis Stage on Saturday, October 2nd at 8:30PM
- Clyde A. Wray, playwright and poet, will bring the live premiere performance of his play We Were Here to the Scotiabank Stage for three shows on Friday, October 8th at 7PM, Saturday, October 9th at 7PM, and Sunday, October 10th at 2PM
- Meagan Musseau, interdisciplinary artist, will have her stunning work showcased in a FREE installation at Neptune Theatre for the duration of the festival
But wait, there’s more!
- Barbara Kaneratonni Diabo will premiere her newest show in a performance at Spatz Theatre, co-presented with Live Art Dance, on Thursday, September 30th at 7PM
- Double bill of local talents Open Borders and Morgan Toney will mesmerize audiences with a performance at Scotiabank Stage on Friday October 1st at 7PM
- Dynamic duo, Twin Flames, will wow audiences at The Carleton on Sunday, October 3rd at 7PM
- Tyler Simmonds’ powerful short film will be screened, FREE, at Neptune Theatre for the duration of the festival

In addition to performances, Prismatic is excited to invite you to industry events including the TALK conference and the Masterclass series.
For this year’s TALK, Prismatic is going international! Partnering with the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Government of Canada, Prismatic will host Voices We Need to Hear: Women in the Arts in a live panel discussion over Zoom.
Prismatic is delighted to partner our friends at the Fountain School of Performing Arts to offer Masterclasses that provide a chance for students and the general public to connect with the industry’s leading artists as they delve into their process, craft, and creativity:
- Clyde A. Wray: Poetry
- Owen O’Sound Lee: Songwriting
- Theatre du Poulet: Mask Work
- Morgan Toney: Mi’kmaq Connections
