Ebnflōh (pronounced ‘ebb n’ flow’) is a non-profit organization and dance company founded in 2015 by choreographer, Alexandra “Spicey” Landé. Their mission is to create, produce, and present engaging works of original and authentic innovation, and to promote a choreographic language rooted in hip-hop. Their works are featured in Quebec, Canada, and abroad.

Ebnflōh aims at high artistic excellence and builds upon innovative concepts, which are thorough in their deep reflections and expressive urgency and are keenly felt through the dance medium. Spicey’s artistic signature and overall contribution to the evolution of dancers and the dance discipline puts Ebnflōh at the forefront of the Quebec dance milieu.

At the company’s core, lies the human spirit: an acknowledgement of otherness and of our limitations; valuing individual contributions; and showing gratitude to the artists’ muses, and to all those who raised the standard. By bringing together diverse elements, the primacy of the human experience, replete with its interconnections, enjoins a more solid foundation instilling greater confidence in collaborations between all artistic partnerships.

In-Ward

In-Ward is a choreographic work by Alexandra “Spicey” Landé and Ebnflōh Dance Company, and produced with the support of CCOV-Centre de Creation O Vertigo.

Plunging us into the deep waters of the human psyche, In-Ward depicts the overlapping of feelings and the subtle contradictions of the unconscious – both individual and collective – while faced with forced confinement, sharing same spaces, and isolation. With raw and sharp physicality, the choreographer and six dancers plumb the complex depths of human relations and the deep ambivalence toward their relative coexistence, subtly combining dramatic tension and dark humour in dealing with obvious situational absurdities that grapple with the forces of hope.
