Sina Bathaie has been welcomed and recognized in the world music scene and has performed at the Luminato Festival, Aga Khan Museum, Mundial Montreal, South Asia Calling and more. Through multiple years of experimental collaboration and attending residencies such as the Banff Centre for Performing Art, Sina has achieved a unique sound in world fusion music which hypnotizes his audiences and has garnered him fans from across the globe.
Prismatic is delighted to have Sina perform pieces from his latest release Ray of Hope with his talented ensemble at the 2018 festival. This music blends Persian melodies, featuring Sina on the santur, with western instruments such as guitar, cello, and percussion.
Ray of Hope is dedicated to all of those who have pursued; who have suffered while the world waits for us to remember this perennial first wisdom that love ignores all boundaries. Sina Bathaie is a Toronto-based composer and santur player known around the world for his unique style and approach toward Persian contemporary music. Born in Iran, Sina first learned to play the santur from his father, Master Javad Bathaie. He continued to follow his passion in music by practicing Persian classical repertoire, radif, with the stringed-instrument oud, and explored the concept of rhythm by learning tonbak, a form of Persian drum.
